
Presidential Advisory Council adds three, re-elects three
Dr. Angeline Godwin, Dr. Betty Young, and Major Jerry Grizzle join the NJCAA PAC
Charlotte, NC – The NJCAA Board of Regents has announced the newest members of the Presidential Advisory Council. Dr. Angeline Godwin of Patrick Henry (VA), Dr. Betty Young of Hocking (OH), and Major General Jerry Grizzle of New Mexico Military join three re-elected members to the council.
Joining the three newest additions are re-elected members Dr. Michael Calvert of Pratt (KS), Dr. Jay Lee of Northeastern (CO), and Dr. Tony Miksa of Walters State (TN). Dr. Margaret McMenamin of Union County (NJ), former NJCAA Presidential Advisory Council Northeast District Representative has been appointed chair of the council. Official appointment of the positions will begin effective August 1, 2019.
"We are pleased to have the newest additions to the Presidential Advisory Council in Dr. Godwin, Dr. Young, and Major General Grizzle," stated Dr. McMenamin. "As an association, the NJCAA is primed with invaluable leaders that continuously move the organization forward. The core values of our three newest additions align with the current leadership and the overall mission of two-year college athletics that will be beneficial for all those involved."
The six Presidential representatives are entitled to one vote at all meetings of the combined NJCAA Board of Regents.
Dr. Angeline Godwin - Patrick Henry Community College
Hired as the third president at Patrick Henry, Dr. Godwin joined the institution in 2012. Dr. Godwin is a first-generation college graduate with a law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan, and a Ph.D. in English from Florida State University. Dr. Godwin holds a master's degree from the University of Alabama, a master's degree from Florida State University, a bachelor's degree from Troy State University, and an associate degree from Gulf Coast Community College in Florida. Dr. Godwin served as president of the Ashland Community and Technical College District in Ashland, KY from 1997 to 2000, and as dean of arts and sciences at Jackson State Community College in Jackson, TN.

The Presidential Advisory Council assures that the NJCAA always has immediate access to the perspectives, insights, and challenges directly from the president's office. Dr. Betty Young - Hocking College
A graduate of Ohio University, Dr. Young holds an associate degree in math and science, a Bachelor of Math and Science, a Bachelor of Business Administration, a Master of Education degree, and a Ph.D in Higher Education. Dr. Young also earned a Law Degree from Capital University. Dr. Young has served as President of Northwest State Community College (OH), Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College (NC), and Houston Cmomunity College (TX) before returning to Ohio.
"Hocking College has embraced athletics as a means to engage students and improve learning outcomes for many who may otherwise never be served by higher education, providing opportunities. The NJCAA provides the organizational structure for us to operate quality student-athlete programs and I am excited to serve on the Presidential Advisory Committee of the NJCAA."
Major General Jerry Grizzle - New Mexico Military Institute
Major General Jerry Grizzle, PhD, United States Army (Retired), became the 19th President/Superintendent of New Mexico Military Institute on July 1, 2009.
General Grizzle graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a BS in Accounting. He received his MBA from Central State University and his Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University.
Previously, General Grizzle was the President/CEO of Orbit Finer Foods, Skolniks, CD Warehouse, and most recently AMS Health Sciences in which he was fully responsible for all aspects of business development in a highly competitive marketplace. Prior to his tenure with CD Warehouse, he was Vice President/Treasurer of Sonic Industries.

I have been a President for ten years and have long felt that the NJCAA has the potential to have a strong voice, equal to the NCAA, in representing its member schools. I believe in the mission and direction that Dr. Parker is taking the organization and want to assist in any way possible."
