NJCAA Names Official Mental Health Consulting Provider
Charlotte, NC – The NJCAA has announced a partnership with Cutler Wellness Programs, LLC as the Official Mental Health Consulting Provider of the association. Cutler Wellness Programs is dedicated to the fundamental premise that all student-athletes should be provided a confidential, coordinated, and integrated mental wellness program as a part of an institution's athletic organization and academic curriculum.
"Our Athlete MH Link program offers the NJCAA and it's member institutions 'Athlete Mental Health Consulting', which is a holistic program meant to support the mental health and wellness of collegiate athletes, coaches, and staff," said Betsy Cutler, M.Ed., Cutler Wellness Programs, President & CEO. "Our programs are built to increase athlete and coach mental health knowledge, strengthen athletic department mental health policies and procedures, streamline and increase access to mental health services, as well as provide the branded Athlete MH Link mobile app, 'Putting Mental Health Resources in the Palms of our Athletes Hands'. We are excited about our NJCAA partnership and applaud its goal of increasing student-athlete mental health programming."
The NJCAA and Cutler Wellness Programs will be able to offer student-athletes, coaches, and athletic departments the following: athlete and coach mental health educational seminars, opportunities to secure "athlete" trained clinical support dedicated to specific organizations, review and/or create athlete-centered mental health policies and procedures, as well as create and moderate athlete mental health town halls or panel discussions.
Cutler Wellness Programs' branded Athlete MH Link mobile app uses organization-specific colors and logos while providing access to institutional and community mental health support structures, including the athlete advisor, a daily health and wellness self-efficacy questionnaire. In addition to making time in athletics a healthier experience through its app and other offerings, Cutler Wellness Programs believes that athletic programming should provide strategies that will translate to every part of the student-athlete's life.
"The mental health and well-being of our student-athletes is at the forefront of everything we do and stand for," stated Dr. Christopher Parker, NJCAA President & CEO. "With this partnership, our member colleges will have tangible programs to monitor these areas, and also be equipped to provide practical resources for increasing mental health education."
