
NJCAA announces 2022 Convention Details
Charlotte, NC – The NJCAA has announced details for the upcoming 2022 NJCAA Convention, presented by the Marines, that will be held in Birmingham, AL April 11-15. The event will provide an opportunity for NJCAA athletic directors, coaches, sport information directors, administrators, and presidents to participate in professional development sessions led by association, industry leaders, and partners and sponsors. Attendees are encouraged to register by Friday, March 11.
"After a successful virtual event last year, the NJCAA is thrilled to welcome back the action-packed 2022 NJCAA Convention in person with the latest association updates, professional development sessions, and the largest exhibit hall in the event's history," stated Dr. Christopher Parker, NJCAA President and CEO. "The convention provides time for the NJCAA to come together for the betterment of our members and association."
Convention attendees will have the opportunity to take part in several sessions and programming specific to their day-to-day role within the NJCAA on April 11-12. Session topics will include professional development for coaches, athletic directors, sports information directors and presidents, health and welfare of student-athletes, compliance and eligibility best practices, and equity, diversity, and inclusion. Governance and Sport Committee meetings will take place from April 13-14 and the NJCAA Board of Regents meeting will be held April 15. Lunch and dinner will be provided daily throughout the NJCAA Convention.
On April 12-13, convention attendees will have direct access to a variety of official NJCAA partners and sponsors at the convention exhibit hall, featuring over 40 exhibitors. On April 12, there will be an off-site evening social at the City of Birmingham's new football stadium, Protective Stadium.
The 2022 NJCAA Annual Awards will be held Wednesday, April 13, at 6:45 PM CST and will recognize the achievements of individuals within the association's leadership structure, member colleges, and contributors, as well as former student-athletes. The following awards were created to provide proper recognition to those that have served the association honorably, helped advance the mission of the association or have helped raise the profile of the NJCAA through their accomplishments: the George E. Killian Award of Excellence, Reed K. Swenson Leadership Award, and the Mary Ellen Leicht Service Award.
In addition to these awards, the NJCAA will honor and recognize the association's athletic director, sports information director, and athletic trainer of the year, as well as the NJCAA annual awards which include: the appreciation award, loyalty award, achievement award, and merit award.
