#NJCAAReplay Game of the Week Nov. 5
On Thursday, Nov. 5, the NJCAA Network, the new home for NJCAA digital content will re-air the 2018 NJCAA DIII World Series between No. 1 Herkimer (NY) and No. 8 Rockingham (NC) from the first round. An early upset highlighted the opening day of the world series as the Eagles defeated the Generals 9-1 in Greeneville, TN.
The Eagles entered the world series with a Cinderella mentality after being crowned NJCAA Region X Champions as well as NJCAA District D Champions, nonetheless they wanted to win. Herkimer, a well-renowned baseball program, headed into the first round game with only eight losses on the season and a top tournament seed, a historic first for the program under Head Coach Jason Rathbun after defeating Niagara County (NY) for the region title. The upset by the Eagles was a memorable one as they ran off with a lead early on and never turned back. In the 7th inning the Generals were able to score, but it was too little too late and Rockingham went on to compete in the consolation quarterfinals where they fell to No. 2 Rowan Gloucester (NJ). This game was selected from a lineup of memorable championship upsets, voted on by the public.
The Herkimer and Rockingham game is the seventh of the reoccurring NJCAA Replay game of the week, highlighting one flashback game every Thursday night on the NJCAA Network. Fans are able to engage and follow along on social media each week leading up to the primetime event as well as cast their vote on the weekly poll each Monday via @NJCAANetwork.
