
NJCAA announces 2020-21 Academic Teams of the Year
Charlotte, NC - The NJCAA has announced the 2020-21 Academic Teams of the Year. NJCAA student-athletes continued to excel in the classroom as 820 teams earned at least a 3.0 GPA or better.
28 programs from across the country earned NJCAA Academic Team of the Year honors after achieving the highest GPA in their respective sport throughout the academic year.
For the tenth consecutive year, Daytona State (FL) recorded the highest GPA amongst all NJCAA Baseball programs with a 3.88 cumulative GPA. This marks the 14th time in the last 15 seasons that the Falcons have earned the honor. Five other programs emerged as repeat winners from the 2019-20 academic year: Iowa Central women's half marathon, Monroe (NY) women's outdoor track and field, Emory Oxford (GA) men's soccer, Barton (KS) volleyball, Pratt (KS) wrestling.
The Barton (KS) volleyball team earned the highest overall GPA in the NJCAA with a 3.93 mark. Monroe (NY) earned an NJCAA-best four Academic Team of the Year recipients in its men's cross country, women's cross country, men's indoor track & field, and women's outdoor track & field programs. Emory Oxford (GA) picked up a trio of Academic Team of the Year honors for the success of its men's soccer, women's soccer, and men's tennis program's in the classroom. Iowa Central, Barton (KS), and Southwestern Oregon each earned a pair of Academic Teams of the Year.
